Winner – European Architecture Awards 2020, Education Category
Construction of a third school complex comprising 13 classrooms and a sports facility on the Montjoie site in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire (37).
The two-storey building includes a semi-sunken gymnasium constructed in reinforced concrete, above which the upper levels are formed using a timber structure. The single-storey buildings are organised around a central circulation spine built in reinforced concrete.
The green roof is supported by a hybrid system combining timber framing and a reinforced-concrete slab, connected to the timber structure by connectors bearing on the central circulation shear walls and on timber columns at the building extremities.
