Le Provençal Palace in Juan-les-Pins, first opened in 1927, was closed down in 1976 for economic reasons. The building was then stripped out, leaving only the concrete skeleton, which sat abandoned until 2010. It wasn’t until 2015 that the renovation project could finally begin.
This involved transforming the Palace’s 290 rooms into 35 luxury apartments.
– Reinforcing the structure with joints and linings to remove load-bearing points.
– Increasing headroom under beams to create more spacious apartments.
– Verifying the suitability of the existing building’s earthquake resistance for seismic zone 3 (moderate seismic activity).
– Strengthening existing structures to allow the creation of an opening and the installation of terraced swimming pools.
– Calculating new and preserved surface areas to ensure that work carried out is always on the existing footprint.
