Design and construction of a school complex in the Bastide Niel district of Bordeaux, comprising a 7-class kindergarten, an 11-class primary school, and a childcare facility.
The foundations consist of continuous flight auger piles, with a ground floor slab supported over a non-accessible crawl space. The superstructure is constructed in reinforced concrete, with floor slabs predominantly cast in situ on precast planks. These slabs are supported by an internal reinforced-concrete column-and-beam system, as well as load-bearing and façade shear walls of insulated double-skin construction, which provide lateral stability.
All roofs are flat reinforced-concrete roof slabs. The structural steelwork is made of standard tubular sections with corrosion protection. The geometrically defined steel frame supports photovoltaic panels and decorative prefabricated concrete slabs.
