TERRELL’s role: Structural Engineering from Concept through to Detailed Design plus Site Supervision.
Constructed over a trunk road, this building is situated on the edge of La Defense, bordering Puteaux and Nanterre. A genuine link between several urban spaces, it will be bordered by towers on the north side, a pedestrian bridge on the east side with sports facilities and parkland on the south side. The project, which is part of a high quality environment approach, also stands out due to its architectural style. It is 160 meters long and 35 metres wide, rising 5 stories above the La Defense podium level.
The structure consists of long span steel lattice trusses spanning over the main road which itself becomes enclosed over the length of the building. Distribution of MEP services is achieved through a full height corridor contained within the depth of the trusses at each level, thereby allowing both flexibility and ease of maintenance to the largest trading floor in Europe.
