Cambridge Children’s Hospital is envisioned as a world-first facility, setting a new benchmark in paediatric care by seamlessly integrating physical and mental health services.
The hospital spans approximately 35,000 m2 over six primary floors, targeting BREEAM Excellent certification and aligning with the NHS’s Net Zero Carbon (NZC) objectives. Sustainability is key in the design, employing Air Source Heat Pumps and photovoltaic cells to meet stringent targets. Spread over six floors, the hospital will include 108 inpatient beds, 16 paediatric intensive care beds, 42 day-case beds, seven operating theatres, imaging and diagnostics, and a hospital school.
An on-site research centre will bring together University of Cambridge researchers and NHS clinicians, to create an environment dedicated to improving the health of children and young people.
