This project involves an extensive redesign of the Versailles Apprentice Training Centre. This public facility houses both the training and apprenticeship centre, as well as the administration building for the Chambre de Métiers et de l’Artisanat. The existing buildings are linked by an extension, creating a coherent whole. The low floor heights and existing “slab-type” floors mean that we have to use different reinforcement techniques to minimise demolition work. We have also created technical rooms in the roof space, modified the verticality, and created a double façade and a wooden corolla on the ground floor. After all these changes, the plan is to reinforce certain existing foundations and create new ones.
