TERRELL’s role: Structural, MEP and Façade Engineering from Concept through to Detailed Design.
This state-of-the-art 1800 seat concert hall for the Denmark’s TV and Radio company has been designed to achieve the highest level of acoustic quality in the world. The auditorium structure, supported on just three points, was designed to minimise the complexity of construction by employing a steel frame infilled with an in-situ concrete outer frame, supporting a 45m high blue textile screen on all four sides (100m x 60m) and glazing to the lobby area, consisting of slender vierendeel trusses and cable mullions; allowing the façade to flex under wind loading.
