Located to the north of the leisure centre, the velodrome will accommodate up to 5000 spectators with 3800 fixed seats. Designed by Ralph Schürmann, the track is 250 m long and 8 m wide, the first of its kind worldwide. It will be the scene for high level international and national competitions. With a total a fifteen hectares, the sports and leisure complex and the associated amenities – offices, shops, restaurants, hotels, student residences etc – will form an essential part of the town centre.
