Designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel for the SFL and the Fondation Cartier, the rehabilitation of the Louvre Saint-Honoré will transform this central Parisian block into a major contemporary art foundation and destination.
The new cultural venue will span three levels S1, ground and first floor, whilst the upper floors (from the second floor upward) remain in use throughout construction.
Key structural works include :
- Creation of a triple-height central void, featuring mobile platforms that allow for multiple, flexible floor configurations,
- Construction of metal structures to support the platforms, surrounding walkways and new glass roofs over the interior courtyards,
- Major structural adaptations to accommodate new load-bearing requirements,
- Extensive underpinning to create new service tunnels in the basement levels,
- Complete redesign of the building’s vertical circulation cores,
- Construction of watertight enclosures (compliant with PPRI flood protection regulations) for critical areas.
