The Cité du Théâtre is a complex of approximately 22,000 m² comprising seven modular auditoria for the Comédie-Française, the Odéon National Theatre and the National Academy of Dramatic Arts. The two theatres that currently exist on the site are being rehabilitated to provide spaces more suited to the needs of the institutions.

This scheme is complemented by scenery workshops, classrooms for students and staff offices.

Common spaces for the three institutions are located in the Halle Garnier, a listed Historic Monument, which becomes a covered square.

Several types of structure are required due to the constraints relating to each space. For each of them, the most suitable material is chosen (reinforced concrete, metal frame or timber frame). Additionally, some rooms are located underground so that they can be accommodated beneath the large planted slab covering the rear of the site, requiring retaining works in the vicinity of the Garnier halls.
